Summer’s winding down. Yes, it’s sad . . . but it’s almost over.
We’ve been busy over the past couple of months working behind the scenes to make the website run nice and smooth. The production crew and hosts have been busy filming a new season of N3XT TV and you . . . what have you been up to?
- Have you been washing dishes in a restaurant kitchen?
- Babysitting?
- Scooping ice cream?
- Fishing?
- Traveling the world?
- Playing Angry Birds?
Have you had the summer job from Hell? Or have you found a job that makes you think you know what you want to do the rest of your life?
Leave a comment here on this post before 5pm on September 9 September 30, telling us all about your summer, and you’ll be entered in a draw to win one of four $25 iTunes gift certificates. (Jason Campbell was our first winner!)
Sweet deal, right? So comment away!

I am going into my second year of Sport and Leisure Management at Holland College and for my internship I was a tournament coordinator. It was definitely a love-hate relationship all summer long. Most of the time it was fun and a great learning experience but there was still that 30 percent of the time when I just wanted to quit. When I was doing my own thing and not being micromanaged by people who didn’t know what they were talking about I was having a great summer. Unfortunately when my close-minded boss was supervising it felt like a prison because no one would talk to each other or enjoy the work since everyone was scared to make a bad impression on him. The other 70 percent of the time when the boss wasn’t at the courts my job was fun because everyone could talk to each other and have a few laughs. The other great part of the job was when the tournaments were going smoothly and everyone was having a good time. I got to BBQ every weekend, be in the sun, and gain some valuable work experience. All in all it was a great job to land for a few months and it will be a summer I won’t soon forget.
Jordan: hopefully it was more “love” than “hate” but good for you for seeing it through to the end!
This past summer I worked at the College of Piping, in the show Highland Storm, and had an absolute blast. The cast was nice, and there is nothing I love better than playing the music I was born and raised on. I play the bass drum, and take lessons at the College through the year for snare drumming. I got to talk to audience members, and then have a blast on stage. I am definately going back next year to preform again. It was my summer job, and I loved it.
JohnDonald: how lucky you are to have found something you love to do so much. Keep at it!
I am in my ninth grade of school at KISH. I have been cutting grass all summer for my summer job. I have been busy most of the summer but was able to have some time to play with my soccer team who only came 5th this year and was able to go to Shining Waters and Sandspit alot. Great summer cutting grass.
Luke: cutting grass is a great way to make some money for the summer!
This summer, I entered a contest to become a VJ for the summerside concert series and well I WON! It was a blast I got to hang out with all the bands backstage and also got to interview them. I had a great time with the crew in summerside and the other VJ’s! Woot go n3xt tv!
Ryan: sounds like you had an awesome summer! Was there a musician that really stood out to you?
I spent the summer interning a C@P Site in K’town during the day, and on the very, and I mean very few dry sunny days, I spent the evenings down at the boardwalk playing some fiddle for some entertainment. Took part in a few ceilidhs, did my usual busking at the Summerside Farmer’s Market. I took part in most of the Kensington Harvest Festival, with Fiddling and balloon twisting. I think it was a good turn out. All and all, that was actually pretty much all that I did all summer. Well…now that I look back, that was pretty uneventful..kinda depressing really. Well anyway that’s about it. Slainte!
Jason: sounds like you’re quite an entertaining guy. Do you plan to make a career out of your talents?
All were great people, really enjoyed Hey Rossetta and Neverest! All in all it was an amazing time!
We love Hey Rosetta! Awesome.
For my summer job, I worked for my local convience store doing stock. It was actually quite enjoyable! My co-workers and bosses were great!
Jason: awesome. Thanks for sharing!
my summer started off with me being able to sleep in and do anything i wanted ! but that soon changed and then i had to go to work at both holland college in summerside and charlottetown ! work was pretty fun because we got to see most of the course they offered at holland. when we did the photography course i loved it so much that i went out and bought a canon rebel camera ! only that following monday after work was over (august 5th) i flew it iqaluit, Nunavut ! i had the most amazing experience ever ! i went up there for a national aboriginal science camp ! we got to learn to to dig for gold and we also got to see all of the different kinds of rocks ! we also did alot of non- sciencey kinda of the things such as skating boarding ! i think that was so much fun because that was one of my new skills that i learnt there ! i am now very proud because i can actually go down a ramp without screaming my head off ! lol i went to iqaluit for a week with 69 other kids from across canada and i made soooo many new friends but kinda also made a couple enemies at the same time ! oops ! after i got back home a got to laze around for a week and get some nice warm air into my body ! lol. after about 2 weeks my family and i went to the states for school clothes shopping ! i got alot of really nice clothes
i also got 6 pairs of shoes lol
2 pairs of sneakers , 2 clogs, and 2 flats ! which are all very stylish ! when we came home i got to laze around some more and before i knew it school had started ! and that was my amazing and fun filled summer !

Hannah: that sounds absolutely amazing! Glad you got to be lazy for awhile with all that excitement!
I spent my summer waitressing 3-4 days a week at Sam`s in Cornwall. While it wasn`t a job that I absolutely loved (I`m more of an artsy type, so I would have rather been in a play or writing books) it paid really well and it was a great way to meet new people. Even though my salary was just minimum wage, it would be easily twice that with the tips. Since I made that much money I didn`t need to work near as often, which freed up a lot of time to hang out with friends or to work on my novel. In short, it wasn`t a bad summer at all.
Rachel: Waitressing is a fantastic way to make some pretty good money while you’re going to school. I did it myself for many years!
This summer I was teaching swimming lessons at Belfast pool and montague pool, while it can be frustrating at times the job was very fun, at Belfast they have an outdoor pool so I got some time to work on my tan and at montague it was an indoor pool so I dost have to worry about getting rained on. All together it was a fun job and It was a great way to pass the time
Mark: I hope you wore your sunscreen while you were working outside so much
i am 13 this year, my first real job was this summer, out at the flea market, working the gate. i really enjoy it, and look forward to going out every sunday morning, i am alway up early and out the door by 8:30. I enjoy being outside, it is a great job for me. Alot of people are very friendly, and often stop to chat.
Cody: Sounds like you found yourself a great first job!
I am in grade 12 and during the summer I worked as a lifeguard at west point beach which was awesome and I also played soccer and are going to nationals in October.
Frances: Have you given much thought yet to what you’re going to do after you graduate?
